FAQ on Rhinoplasty

03/28/19 | 1 MIN READ

Rhinoplasty is the second most common facial plastic surgery procedure performed on more than 200,000 people a year. Individuals seek rhinoplasty or nose surgery, for any number of reasons including broken noses, bumps, revisions from a previous surgery, and just small changes to make the nose more refined. Even such slight alterations can greatly improve one's appearance.

Rhinoplasty is usually done on an outpatient basis under anesthesia. There are two types; open and closed. Not only can a bump be minimized, noses can be built up with the use of cartilage or implants.

After surgery, you should expect some headaches, puffiness, pain, and bruising. Each person's recovery experience will be unique and varied. Plan to be patient and take it slow for those weeks following surgery. It is incredibly important to follow your doctor's instructions to the letter to get the best and most desirable outcome.

Dr. Jeffrey Raval is highly regarded for his rhinoplasty surgeries, in particular for his revision rhinoplasty surgeries which are far more complex because of inherent scar tissue. Deemed "The Nose Guy", Dr. Raval says that "Rhinoplasty is a permanent procedure, however, your nose's appearance may change as you age."
