Which Fillers Are Best for Which Areas?

08/16/23 | 2 MIN READ

Millions of men and women now take advantage of dermal fillers to maintain a youthful but natural appearance. But it can be downright daunting to figure out which filler is the best choice to achieve your goals.

Some fillers can be used in the hands, but our focus here at Rocky Mountain Laser Aesthetics is on the face. Still, each part of your face is distinctly different, and each person’s skin responds differently to sun exposure and the passage of time. So certain fillers can work better than others to produce the results you want to see. For the face, we use fillers to:

  • Fill in fine lines, moderate to severe wrinkles and deeper folds
  • Add volume to the temples, cheeks and lips, jawline, and lower eyelids
  • Improve overall facial symmetry
  • Minimize facial scars
  • Nose contouring – a “liquid nose job” may be all you need to lift the tip, raise the bridge or correct nasal asymmetry

But let’s not forget the neck – an integral part of your facial appearance. And one more area – the hands. Certainly there is nothing “facial” about your hands, but like your neck, hands are so visible! Filler can help them tell the same youthful story as your face and neck, so you can present a consistent appearance to the world.

So What Do We Use Where?

We use products from two proven, top-quality families of dermal fillers --Juvéderm® andRestylane. You’re probably aware that there are a number of other products on the market, but in our many years of professional experience using fillers, we know our patients can trust Juvéderm® and Restylane for safety and results.

Juvéderm® VOLBELLA® XC

This ultra-smooth formula is designed to fill fine lines on the lips and around the mouth. No other filler is like it.

Juvéderm® VOLUMA® XC

This thicker, gel-like formula is just right for smoothing away more obvious wrinkles and folds and for restoring lost volume to the cheeks. For some patients, we find this filler beneficial in minimizing lines around the mouth.

Juvéderm® VOLLURE® XC

This filler is designed for the deepest facial wrinkles such as nasolabial folds.

Restylane Lyft®

This versatile formula rejuvenates the mid-face, smoothing smile lines restoring volume to give cheek contour.

Restylane Kysse

As the name implies, this delicate, flexible formula is just for the lips. It adds volume and smooths the skin, producing results that are soft and natural looking.

So Which is Right for You?

While different fillers are designed to address different areas of the face, you can tell from the descriptions above that there is still some variation in how we use each of them. And what’s best for each individual depends on your skin, what areas you want to address, and your personal aesthetic goals. With an in-person consultation, we can make the best recommendations and get you on your way to a consistently more youthful appearance.
