Perlane
Perlane®, a next generation dermal filler and the newest member of the Restylane® family, was approved by the FDA for use in the United States in May 2007. Built of biotechnologically engineered, non-immunogenic, stabilized hyaluronic acid gel particles, the primary difference between Restylane and Perlane is that the hyaluronic acid gel particles in Perlane are larger than those in Restylane. As such, Perlane is intended to be implanted into the deep dermis to superficial layer of the subcutis to add volume to restore surface contour in facial wrinkles and folds. The increased size of the particles break down slower than the smaller particles in Restylane and therefore last longer—up to one year. Perlane delivers enhanced volumizing traits and can be used on the entire face including lips, folds and wrinkles in the deep dermis to the superficial layer of the subcutis. Because hyaluronic acid is manufactured in the body, no pre-treatment testing is required and no animal byproducts are used in Perlane either.

The jaw line is one of the features on the face that can sag as we age, adding years to one’s appearance. Dr. Raval demonstrates Perlane® injections into the jaw line to fill in the unevenness that develops over time, restoring a youthful fullness to the face. His pain-free technique mixes fast-acting lidocaine to the Perlane to numb the area with the first injection. The improvement is immediate.
