PureTox®, a third Botox contender

PureTox® is another potential Botox rival. Made by Mentor, PureTox is said to be quicker acting than Botox. This anti-wrinkle injectable, is considered a next-generation botulinum neurotoxin, considerably purer than currently available toxins. Exceedingly popular to smooth away wrinkles in the forehead, between the eyes and around the eyes, botulinum toxin injections are the fastest growing cosmetic procedure today at more than 1.5 million procedures a year.

PureTox® is not as yet approved by the US FDA. PureTox® will be used to treat facial lines and wrinkles that result from underlying muscle activity much like Botox. The precise nuances, advantages and disadvantages of the aesthetic use of PureTox® are not known at this time.
