FDA approves a new treatment to boost eyelash volume

Finally, this is the first safe solution for having too few or too thin eyelashes, a recognized medical condition called hypotrichosis.

Latisse is applied once daily with the disposible applicator and continued use of Latisse is recommended or else eyelashes can return to their previous state within one hair cycle. The active ingredient in Latisse is bimatoprost, a lipid compound derived from fatty acids that will bind to the prostaglandin receptors naturally present in the hair and involved with growth of the hair follicle.

Latisse is also batting its eyelashes in Hollywood to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Remember when you would blow on an eyelash and make a wish? This was the inspiration for the Latisse Wishes campaign. Allergen donated $500,000 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and is aiming to contribute $1 million by the end of the year. Consumers can help in the effort to double the amount by registering at www.latisse.com and $5 will be donated for each new registrant. The Make-A-Wish Foundation has granted more than 174,000 wishes of children throughout the country with life-treating medical conditions since 1980.
